Professional Biography:
Mr. Edmonston graduated from Butler County Community College in 1974, from Kansas State University in 1976 with a B.S. degree in Recreation, and from the University of Kansas in 1978 with a M.S. degree in Recreation. In 1982, he was certified by the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association as a Certified Recreational Sports Specialist. In 1996 and 2003, he received his Certified Pool Operator Certification. Mr. Edmonston has been a member of the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association since 1976. Mr. Edmonston serves on more than 15 university, community, and national boards and committees each year.
Job Duties:
Mr. Edmonston is responsible for the administration and management of the Intramural/ Recreational Sports Program (IMRS). IMRS has eight program areas: Intramural Sports, Sport Clubs, Fitness/Wellness, Instructional Programs, Accessible Recreation, Outdoor Connection, Special Events, and Facility Management. IMRS also administers the National Youth Sports Program for 5 weeks during the summer months. The specific duties include: budgeting/financial affairs, risk management, human resources, facility scheduling, facility maintenance, facility planning, marketing/public relations, programming, data collection, and reporting. IMRS administers or hosts more than 300 events each year, administers thousands of event meetings each year, and employs approximately 300 students. Mr. Edmonston also teaches graduate level courses in the Sport Management and Recreation curriculums.
